Pink liquid waste from the Durli Leathers S.A. tannery sits in a deposit dug into an open field in Paraguari, Paraguay, Friday, August 13, 2021, on the day the Environment Ministry stopped its operations. Nearby landowners fear that once it rains the liquid will contaminate the streams that drain into Lake Ypoa, and suspect the deaths of eight cattle with bloody diarrhea were caused by drinking water near this deposit. An undated handout photo made available, 17 August 2021, by the Association of Southeastern Naturalist (ANSE) that shows dead fish and shrimp found in the Mar Menor or Minor sea in Murcia, Spain. Thousands of dead fish were found between 14 and 16 August 2021 in the Minor sea. According to ANSE and WWF the death of these fish has not been the lack of oxygen at that point of the sea as the Regional Government pointed out at first because measurements have shown normal levels in the area. The dead fish have probably been dragged from another area further out at sea. Both ANSE and WWF, consider that the monitoring of the Minor Sea is probably not the right one as measurements of oxygen levels should be made continuously and not only at the shore but also in the deep areas. Icebergs break off from receding Heinabergsjokull glacier with their reflections in a near-still lake of the glacier's meltwater on August 16, 2021 near Hofn, Iceland. Iceland is feeling a strong impact from global warming. Since the 1990s, 90% of Iceland's glaciers have been retreating and projections for the future show a continued and strong reduction in size of its thee ice caps. Heinabergsjokull is one of dozens of glacier tongues that descend from Vatnajokull, Iceland's biggest ice cap. (Photo by Sean Gallup/Getty Images)

Trash piles up in the heavily polluted Litani Rver, in Saghbin, Bekaa valley, eastern Lebanon, June 20, 2021. Millions of people in Syria and Iraq are at risk of losing access to water, electricity and food amid rising temperatures, record low water levels due to lack of rainfall and drought, international aid groups warned Monday, Aug. 23, 2021. Activists have long warned about pollution levels caused by sewage and waste in the Litani River, the country's longest and a major source for water supply, irrigation and hydroelectricity. A view of the Petit Vignemale glacier, left, and the Oulettes, right, on the Vignemale massif's north face in the Pyrenean mountain range, as seen from the Gaube valley in southern France, Sunday, August 3, 2020. Spanish scientists say Europe's southernmost glaciers will likely be reduced to ice patches in the next two decades due to climate change. The study also found that the shrinking of ice mass on the Pyrenees mountain range is continuing at the steady but rapid speed seen at least since the 1980s. (Photo by Aritz Parra/AP Photo)

This taken on September 3, 2021 shows trash on the abandoned A601 highway at Juprelle, near Liege. The makeshift dump – comprising 90,000 tonnes of domestic debris stretching a total eight kilometres (five miles) in both directions of the closed A601 motorway north of the city of Liege – is testament to the devastation wreaked by unprecedented floods in mid-June. Ice floats around boats in the port on September 02, 2021 in Ilulissat, Greenland. Greenland in 2021 is experiencing one of its biggest ice-melt years in recorded history. Scientists studying the Greenland Ice Sheet observed rainfall on the highest point in Greenland for the first time ever this August. Researchers from Denmark estimated that in July of this year enough ice melted on the Greenland Ice Sheet to cover the entire state of Florida with two inches of water. The observations come on the heels of the recent United Nations report on global warming which stated that accelerating climate change is driving an increase in extreme weather events. A picture taken on August 25, 2021 shows a view of the Aletsch Glacier. After hiking for hours across the mountain and a vast expanse of white, Swiss glaciologist Matthias Huss crouches down near the middle of the massive glacier and checks the measurements. Analysis of the data gathered from Aletsch, the largest glacier in the Alps, paints a dire picture of the toll that climate change is taking on the behemoth. (Photo by Fabrice Coffrini/AFP Photo)
